About Dr. John D. Lupiano (not practicing since 2011)

Board certified in internal medicine as well as public health and preventative medicine, John Lupiano, MD, MPH, operated a private medical practice in New York City from 1989 to 2011. HE HAS NOT BEEN PRACTICING MEDICINE SINCE 2011. Beyond his private practice, Dr. John Lupiano worked at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital as an Attending Physician in the Department of Medicine. His career experience includes serving as Medical Director at St. Clare’s Family Health Center, Chief Physician at St. Clare’s Hospital, and Attending Physician at Terrance Cardinal Cooke Health Care Facility.

Dr. John Lupiano supplemented his medical practice by maintaining an active role in academia. He served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. His most recent teaching experience includes working as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Over the course of his medical career, Dr. John Lupiano has engaged in a number of medical research projects on topics such as PPD tests, drug screening, and intestinal aluminum absorption in uremic rats.

Educated at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine, Dr. John Lupiano completed his Doctor of Medicine in 1984. As an honor student, he gained a membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Student. For his postdoctoral training, he completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship in preventative medicine at Columbia University. After establishing his career as a physician, Dr. John Lupiano continued his education at Columbia University School of Public Health, earning his health policy and management degree in 1991. Dr. John Lupiano was a former member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the American Society of Internal Medicine.
